4-Point Link Structure — Self-Tightening Grip, No Spring Required
The 4-point link mechanism converts the fish's downward weight into lateral clamping force on the arm. Unlike spring-loaded grips that apply a fixed clamping force regardless of fish weight, the UE-302T's grip intensifies as the fish struggles or hangs heavier. This is particularly valuable for large, powerful fish that thrash or shake — the more force they apply, the harder the arm clamps. The mechanism is derived from the same principle used in Shimano's larger UE-301T, optimised here for the lighter shore fishing application of the UE-302T.

Compact Shore Spec — 246mm, 150g, Maximum Opening 23mm
At 246mm long and just 150g, the UE-302T is significantly lighter and shorter than the large-model UE-301T — designed specifically for shore fishing where carrying weight and pack size matter. The 23mm maximum arm opening handles the jaw width of seabass, flounder, amberjack, and most shore-caught fish up to large specimen size. The arm opening is 4mm thin, allowing it to enter the mouth of fish with small or tight jaw openings cleanly, without forcing. Ideal for lure fishing, surf fishing, and shore rock fishing.

Touch Point Alignment System — Precise Jaw Entry on the First Pass
The arm tip features a raised tactile "touch point" — a visual and physical reference mark that positions the arm tip at the correct entry point relative to the fish's lower jaw. In field conditions — low light, fish thrashing, wet hands — finding the exact jaw entry point quickly without a reference marker can result in a missed grip or a second attempt that spooks the fish. The touch point allows confident, first-pass jaw entry. The arm is shaped to minimise lip damage during catch-and-release.

Gun Grip Trigger — Smooth 3kg Pull Weight, 3D Ergonomic Body
The trigger operates at approximately 3kg of pull force — lighter than competing models (measured at up to 4kg) — making the release action smooth and fatigue-free during extended sessions. The grip body is moulded in a 3D ergonomic shape from glass-reinforced nylon for structural rigidity and comfortable palm contact. A rope attachment hole on the grip body allows the UE-302T to be tethered to a belt or D-ring with an aftermarket lanyard (not included) — essential when working from elevated jetties, piers, or boats.

Marine-Grade Materials — Stainless Steel Arm, Aluminium + Glass-Nylon Body
The clamping arm is stainless steel for corrosion resistance in saltwater environments. The body frame incorporates aluminium for rigidity where structural load occurs during fish handling. The outer grip is glass-reinforced nylon — salt-resistant, UV-resistant, and dimensionally stable after repeated saltwater immersion and sun exposure. The combination of materials is Shimano's standard for saltwater shore fishing tools. Rinse with fresh water after use to maintain the mechanism in optimal condition.

Shimano Japan — Professional Quality, Shore Fishing Standard
Shimano is the world's leading manufacturer of fishing reels and components, founded in Osaka in 1921 and now producing tackle used by professional anglers across every discipline. The Fish Grip R UE-302T is a Japan domestic product, designed and specified for Japanese shore fishing conditions — seabass on estuaries and bays, flounder and flatfish on beaches, and amberjack and sea bream on rocky shore marks. Shimano's quality engineering is evident in the machining precision of the 4-point link mechanism and the build quality that justifies the tool's long service life.
