WWII Era Germany

50 Reichsmark Banknote

Historical Money

During World War II Germany issued currency bills like this 5 Reichsmark note which is in circulated condition with minor creases.  The obverse has an engraving of distinguished looking gentleman in blue-gray ink and the reverse shows a cameo engraving with cherubs on both side.  The 50 Reichsmark note was first printed in 1935 as part of Germany’s national currency reform, replacing earlier inflation-era banknotes.

By 1939, these notes were a key part of the German economy and continued in use throughout World War II, making them genuine artifacts of that period.  They were widely circulated as part of Germany's war-time expansion in Nazi Occupied Territories and are part of the historical financial structure of pre-war and wartime Europe.
