Absolutely stunning pair of antique Victorian cranberry glass epergne vases, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century.
Each vase features richly colored cranberry glass with a beautiful ombré effect and ruffled rim, set into ornate gilt bronze (ormolu-style) bases adorned with seated cherubs and scrolling foliate details. The craftsmanship and detail throughout are exceptional, making these a striking decorative pair for display.
Originally used as table centerpieces, epergnes were designed to hold flowers or sweets and were a symbol of elegance and abundance in Victorian interiors.
Details: • Antique, circa 1900 • Cranberry glass with gilt bronze mounts • Cherub (putti) figural decoration • Sold as a pair
Approx 15 inches in height and 5 inches across for the base.
Condition: Overall good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. One base has had a repair (visible at the foot—see photos), which is stable and does not detract from display. Light wear to gilt and minor surface wear consistent with age.
A beautiful and romantic pair that perfectly captures that moody Victorian / château aesthetic.
