2"X 2" 35mm PRODUCTION SLIDE FROM A MAGAZINE ARCHIVE.
I WAS ADVISED BY A MAGAZINE FILM REVIEW WRITER AND LONG TIME COLLECTOR THAT SLIDES WERE SENT OUT TO WRITERS WITH AND WITHOUT MOUNTS. THAT LEADS TO SOME CONFUSION WHEN A SLIDE WAS PUT INTO A MOUNT WITH A MUCH LATER DATE. EVERY STUDIO SLIDE WAS MADE FROM THE CAMERA ORIGINAL REGARDLESS OF WHEN THE ACTUAL SLIDE WAS MADE. FOR EXAMPLE, A SLIDE MADE IN 1977 MAY HAVE BEEN SENT TO A MAGAZINE YEARS LATER FOR A FEATURE STORY OR A RERELEASE, ALSO IF NO SLIDES WERE AVAILABLE, NEW SLIDES WOULD BE MADE FROM THE CAMERA ORIGINAL
SOME OF THE SLIDES MOUNTS FROM THIS COLLECTION HAD BEEN TAPED TO A SURFACE, SOME KIND OF MASKING OF AREAS
WITH SHARPIE ON THE MOUNT. PROBABLY A STAMP OR NOTES OF SOME SORT
USUALLY PROVIDED TO THE MAGAZINE ON REQUEST FOR A FEATURE ARTICLE. IN THIS ERA OF MOVIES SLIDES WERE NOT GENERALLY IN PRESS KITS
After reviewing this collection with a couple Star Wars fanatics and a collector since the 70s, it seems to me that the majority of the slides were from camera originals used for pre and post production as well as during shooting of the film. Duplicates would be made in bulk and sent were needed. Why they would have been sent to a magazine would be an educated guess. My guess is a friendly employee or a dump of unwanted slides. The majority were never publish and are ultra rare production slides. A former studio employee informed me that when a magazine requested slides for an article they would send a number of them to the magazine and kept no record of what they sent.
IT IS CRYSTAL CLEAR. IT IS VERY HARD TO TAKE A PHOTO OF SLIDES. MY SCANNER IS CHEAP AND DOES NOT SCAN AS CLEAR AS THE ACTUAL SLIDE OR MY CAMERA. A PROFESSIONAL MAKING STILLS FROM THESE SLIDES WOULD HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO SCAN THEM CRYSTAL CLEAR
MY CAMERA DISTORTS THE COLOR OF THE MOUNTING WHEN TAKING A PICTURE WITHOUT FLASH. CHECK THE PHOTO OF THE MOUNTING FOR THE ACTUAL COLOR

Ebay now requires me to add the following statement before my contact information. It has taken me over 100 hours to add it to all my items. They will not tell me why it needs to be added. However, I think that an honest business should have an accessible way to be contacted by mail, phone, email or a knock on the door :-) They feel they must protect someone by having me say
