When creating ornaments for embroidery, artists at all times turned to nature, but did not simply copy it, but, by stylizing it, simplified it, preserving its most characteristic features.
 
  Bereginya.  Bereginya is an important symbol found in many embroidery patterns.  It was created by the people as a mysterious, multifaceted and powerful flower, symbolizing maternal power.  Bereginya also symbolizes the tree of life (sometimes it was depicted in the form of a bouquet or flowerpot), which is a connection of three worlds and a symbol of the harmony of the universe.
   Grape.  The symbolism of grapes reveals the joy and beauty of raising a family.
  Pigeon.  In popular belief, the dove is a holy, sacrificial, "God's bird" (like a swallow, lark, nightingale), a symbol of purity, purification, as well as wedding ritual ceremonies.  Two doves are a symbol of love and creativity.

Oak.  Oak is a sacred tree, the embodiment of the World's ancestral tree, the guardian of male energy and life.
Kalinovka.  When viburnum was associated with the birth of the Universe, the fiery trinity: the Sun, Moon and Star, and its name comes from the old Ukrainian name for the Sun - Kolo.  Red viburnum berries are a symbol of blood and immortality, fire and the sun.  That is why all wedding towels, girl's and even men's shirts are filled with bunches of viburnum.  Viburnum combines symbols of beauty and strength, but unusual strength, extraordinary beauty.
  Lily.  Lily is a symbol of maiden beauty, purity, beauty and chastity.  Lily, according to legend, was born by Mother Earth and the goddess of water Dana.
Poppy.  The red poppy means beauty, youth and their transience.  A wreath of red poppies is a symbol of female purity; it is compared to white light.  A young man is compared to a blooming poppy.
  Rose.  Rose is the flower of the goddess of love Lada and her daughter, the goddess of spring Lelya.  The "Flower King" is a symbol of benevolence and abundance, and the red rose is a symbol of maiden beauty and purity
  Water and Sun.   All Ukrainian embroidery is marked with blessed signs of water and sun.  The image of the sun occupies one of the main places in home decoration.  The sun through round rosettes, rhombuses, horses can be found in different types of folk art.
The sun is often depicted as an eight-petalled rosette or flower,
and the Water sign resembles a coiled snake.  Two elements that formed earthly life, and therefore they must be understood as maternal moisture and fiery parental energy.
From the depths of the past, these symbols have come down in Ukrainian embroidery ornaments - the Earth and the Sun, which in combination with Water form a life-giving trinity.  These are signs of those forces without which life itself is impossible.
