The ship associated with this newspaper is an ocean liner built as the “SS Duchess of Richmond” in 1928 for Canadian Pacific Steamships by John Brown & Company in Clydebank, Scotland. In 1947 the ship was renamed “SS Empress of Canada” and had 400 first-class and 300 tourist-class cabins. The ship caught fire and capsized in 1953, after which it was scrapped.
