Item Specifics:

• Mold Number: 4176 previously not seen or listed in Kilner catalogs

Description:
This is an Imperial Quart utility jar produced by Kilner Bros (C B K). Base embossed with unrecorded Mold Number 4176, which is not in standard Kilner typologies most examples fall in the 1–2000 range. This 4000-series mark indicates a specific private contract run, possibly a mold specific for Crosse & Blackwell export trade.
Condition Note:
This is an un-dug shelf survivor. It retains its original factory luster. There is a horizontal content stain running from the midpoint of the base to the shoulder. This lay-down line indicates the jar was stored horizontally for a long duration with its original contents.
Technical Details:
• Lip: Heavy applied collar with horizontal striations and glass drip at the neck.
• Base: Embossed C B K with 4176. Smooth base
• Glass: Aqua with an elongated air bubble in the base.
Orange peel whittle, nicely seeded throughout, shows well
