How to lay artificial grass?
Artificial grass is becoming ever more popular with homeowners in the US as it offers a low maintenance alternative to grass. However, some are still hesitant, as they believe it is too costly. What many people don’t consider is installing artificial grass yourself could offer a considerable saving, and we are going to look at how to lay artificial grass.
Installation method:
- Cut up the existing lawn to the required depth.
- Level the area ready for the sand aggregate to be laid.
- Insert a treated edging around the perimeter to secure the membrane & grass onto.
- Screed over and compact the area with a 20mm layer of grit sand.
- Secure onto the framework a heavy duty permeable membrane over the sand to act as a weed barrier,
- Lay, trim & cut to size the artificial grass.
- Secure the artificial grass onto the treated timber frame-work with either galvanised screws or staple gun.
- Brush up the grass pile with heavy-duty brushes or AGM electric power brush.
