This is a lot of 11 mid-century Hong Kong made circus kitsch characters. They are all stamped with the country of origin, but no brand name, could be from the Marx company. The toys are crafted from hard plastic, possibly celluloid and hand-painted. They are 1.5-2 inches tall. Originally these figurines were likely cake toppers and/or toy prizes. These types of small plastic toys from that era are often referred to as "dime store" toys.
The lot features a fun, colorful selection of popular circus-themed characters. The selection includes: a lion, a dromedary camel, three tigers, two donkeys, two seals and two clowns. The animals are executed in a signature anthropomorphic style with big cartoonish eyes and wide grins. The clowns have a similar kitschy cartoon look.
The toys are all intact and in good condition, but do show wear on the paint, as is typical for "dime store" toys of this age (see pictures).
These nostalgic, highly collectible items would be perfect for anyone who appreciates vintage toys and/or circus-themed pieces or just wants to add a touch of whimsy to their decor. Of course they are fun to play with too! And shipping is always free on all my items.
