Map Of The Guebe Strait 1824 Antique Nautical Map Copper Engraving Pacific Ocean

This map is a rare 19th-century French hydrographic chart titled Carte Du Détroit De Guébé (Map of the Guebe Strait).

The map documents the exploration of the Moluccas (Spice Islands) in modern-day Indonesia, specifically focusing on Gebe Island (spelled "Guébé" on the map) and the surrounding waters near Waigeo and New Guinea.

It was drafted by Louis-Isidore Duperrey, a French naval officer and explorer, during his famous scientific circumnavigation of the globe. Duperrey commanded the corvette La Coquille from 1822 to 1825.
