The protagonist, Makoto Itou, has a girl he secretly likes.

He even keeps her photo as his phone wallpaper—

that girl is Kotonoha Katsura, a student from a neighboring class.

They ride the same train line at the same time every day.

Since noticing this, Makoto has begun to look forward to his daily commute.

However, one day, his classmate Sekai Saionji, who sits next to him, discovers his phone wallpaper.

At the time, there is a popular rumor at school:

if you keep a photo of the person you love as your phone wallpaper for two weeks without anyone noticing, your love will come true.

Makoto had been secretly following this superstition, so he desperately tries to make Sekai keep it a secret.

After some awkward exchanges and even getting scolded by a teacher, he calls her to the rooftop to talk things through.

Though things get tense, Sekai eventually agrees not only to keep the secret—but also to help him.

From that moment, their “plan” begins.

Sekai grows closer to Kotonoha and learns more about her:

she tends to keep her distance from others, often feels lonely, and has been pushed into serving as a class representative.

She also doesn’t have a clear romantic interest—just a slight curiosity toward a certain boy.

As Makoto and Sekai work together, their relationship appears unusually close, even leading Makoto’s friend Taisuke Sawanaga to jokingly ask if they are dating.

To help Makoto get closer to Kotonoha, Sekai arranges for the three of them to go out together.

Through this, Makoto and Kotonoha begin to connect.

Grateful for Sekai’s support, Makoto finally gathers his courage and asks her out after school.

Realizing it’s a date, Sekai blushes and asks, “Is it really okay if it’s me?”

Makoto nods, and she agrees.

But at the same time—

Kotonoha confides in Sekai that the boy she has feelings for is actually Makoto.

Sekai smiles and congratulates her.

Later, at the station during sunset, Makoto waits for Kotonoha—

but it is Sekai who appears instead.

It turns out she takes the same train line as well.

Makoto thanks her for everything, and Sekai jokingly asks for something in return.

As the train arrives, she suddenly steals a kiss from him.

“This is enough,” she says with a shy smile, encouraging him to do his best on his date.

Makoto is left stunned on the platform.

On the train, Sekai gazes out with a bittersweet expression—

and on her phone screen is a photo of Makoto.

Meanwhile, Kotonoha, having finished her duties, happily rushes to the station.

Each of them carries their own feelings—

and thus, the story begins.
