RARE 1971 Chevrolet Sterling Silver Cufflinks and Charm in Presentation Box By Balfour

Commemorating Chevrolet's Record-Setting Sales year with 3,002,315 vehicles!

This comes directly from the estate/collection of Bob Muncrief, 

two-time World Series Champion pitcher (1944 & 1948). 


The 1/2 Globe Cufflinks are 3/4" in diameter and the Full Globe charm is the same in diameter. Cufflinks have the Chevrolet Logo on one and the other has 1971 and below, 3,002,315 Cufflinks are marked Sterling and Balfour. The Charm has the Chevrolet Logo on one side and the other has 1971 and below 3,0002,315. No apparent markings on the charm. The box is felt lined on the bottom and a satin type material inside the top part of the box with Balfour written in script Balfour Box has only minor wear. The Cufflinks, and Charm are in excellent condition. 

Chevrolet sold a record-setting 3,002,315 vehicles in 1971. Under the management of John DeLorean and Sales Manager Bob Lund, Chevrolet became the first vehicle division to exceed 3 million units in a single year.

This set as well as several other dealership promotional model cars listed for sale, comes from the collection/estate of Bob Muncrief. Muncrief was a professional major league baseball player and later was a sale’s representative at Bob Hayes Chevrolet Company out of Dallas, Texas in the 1960s-1970s. Muncrief collected these items and kept them in their original boxes and stored away for years which ultimately preserved their life. A copy of his original business card along with a photo of Bob and his Son as well as photos of Muncrief in uniform are presented here for reference but are not included in this sale. HOWEVER....

Bob Muncrief's baseball career spanned some 25 years and he pitched against Hall of Fame players such as Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson, Hank Greenberg, and Joe DiMaggio.  In 1940 he was voted the most valuable player in the Texas League while with San Antonio.  While with the American League St. Louis Browns Muncrief was voted to play for the 1944 American League All Star Team.  Muncrief led the American League in won-lost percentage in 1945.  He pitched in two World Series.  In 1944 while with the St. Louis Browns, and in 1948 while with the World Champion Cleveland Indians.  Over a five-year span Muncrief relieved in over 30 winning games per year.  During his Major League playing career Muncrief pitched for the St. Louis Browns (now the Baltimore Orioles), Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Chicago Cubs.  He was invited to Spring Training with the Yankees in 1951 but was assigned to the American Association Kansas City Blues.  Before retirement Muncrief played with the Pacific Coast League's Los Angeles Angels, and the San Francisco Seals.
