Henry Wade, guitarist for The Orielles, describes the vibe of their fourth studio album, Only You Left, by stating "you've got to die and be reborn between albums." The 11 track selection here certainly sees the band - formed in Halifax but now based on the other side of the Pennines in Manchester - adding a natural economy and sleekness to their sound, no doubt in part to their reverting to a classic three piece line up, completed by singer and bassist Esme Hand-Halford and drummer Sidonie Hand-Halford. But the experimental edge in evidence on 2022's Tableau is one they pick and run with here, from the intricate strings fighting it out with Pavement/Sonic Youth style art rock riffing on 'Shadow Of You Appears' to the handclaps and off kilter sway to 'Wasp'. Despite what the title might suggest, this is a band with plenty left to give.
