Description
Vintage circa 1914-1935 Marble's SAFETY KNIFE model stag-handled folding hunter in better-than-average condition for the type. Proudly hand-finished in Gladstone, Michigan USA. Marble's Knives was one of the best US makers of hunting knives, axes and other outdoors gear since 1898; this knife is from the Marble's early 20th century "golden era" - a great find!
The knife is about 8-1/8" / 20.7 cm fully opened; the blade is about 4" / 10.2 cm long; the 3-line logo on the tang. The blade has been cleaned; it is very sharp still; the tip is intact; blade protector's tip is slightly bent. Genuine stag handle with nickel-silver bolsters and a swing guard. The handle is tight; the blade closes and opens with a sharp snap. Minor pitting on the blade is noted for accuracy. Original stag handle scales are in very good overall condition with a few small tension cracks near some pins and a small chip near the pommel.
Overall, the knife is in great condition, considering the age; with proper care it will last you another 100 years ;) These early Marble's folders are VERY hard to find these days in better grades.
