Wonderful graphics on both sides of this celluloid pocket postage stamp holder from the Hamilton Watch Company, Lancaster, Pa.
Front has advertising that reads: “THE HAMILTON WATCH - RAIL ROAD TIMEKEEPER OF AMERICA” with a front view of a locomotive.
Back has a factory view and suggests you: “Buy 940 18 Size or 960 16 Size and you will have the handsomest and the best.”
In very small print at bottom of front panel it reads: “Pat. June 6, 1905 The Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J.”
Has pull-out internals in which the stamps are held. Size is 2-1/4 by 1-3/8 inches.
Advertising postage stamp holders are found for a variety of subjects, however, those for railroad watches are rarely found.
