The protagonist, Yukinoshin Renfutsu, has devoted his life to martial arts and was expected to inherit the dojo he trains at. However, after losing a decisive match to his rival, he falls into deep reflection.

Determined to improve himself, he leaves the secular world behind and retreats to the mountains for rigorous training. As his solitary practice progresses slowly, winter quietly descends upon the mountain.

One day, while in the snowy mountains, he encounters a white creature being attacked by a bear. Trying to save the small animal, he bravely confronts the bear alone—only to be charged and pushed to the brink of death.
