*NOTE

Honda Civic models from 2001 and later were equipped with an anti-theft system. There's a chip in the key. The chip key must be matched to the engine computer to start the car.

If the car will not start because of this issue ,it will display in the dashboard when you crank the engine,which indicates that the car will not start due to  unproper key.

In order to solve this issue you can:

1. Ask your local locksmith to copy the key to the lock you ordered, but have them program the chip to match the one with your old key.

2. If you don't have an old key, a locksmith can connect a small machine to the OBD2 port of the vehicle and program the car to use the key that came with the lock.
