Long discontinued, impossible to find, in perfect condition and kept in original packaging since purchase at the legendary Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC! This bamboo grove mirror was produced as part of the Smithsonian Castle Collection, which included replicas of the museum's own furnishings in its "Castle," the museum's famous administrative headquarters. Somewhere in the Castle is a mirror that looks just like this one! The original mirror, like the 30,000 historical items in the Castle's collection of furnishings, date back to the 1800s and were handpicked by then-museum director S. Dillon Ripley in 1964 to better reflect the architecture of the Castle, which was constructed in 1855. The Castle has been temporarily closed for renovations since 2023, but you don't have to wait to see its treasures. Take home this beautiful, elegant and versatile conversation piece and bring some of the Smithsonian's history to your home today!

The frame features a notch for wall mounting and a stand as shown. The entire item (mirror and frame) measures 14" high and 12 1/2" wide. The mirror can also be removed from the back and replaced with wall art or photographs. Please note that the vertical line visible on the right side of the mirror in the third and fourth photos is a reflection of a "seam" in the wall it was facing. It is NOT a flaw in the mirror. This is why the "seam" is not visible in the other photos, which were taken later and in which the mirror faces a different wall.
