Keiichi Ohta Art Book AMNESIA 1986
Description
[Product Introduction]
Keiichi Ohta is known for creating the artwork and writing the lyrics for the legendary music unit Guernica, alongside Jun Togawa and Koji Ueno. This volume is regarded as one of his representative art books.
The book captures Ohta’s distinctive vision of “artificial beauty” and retro-futurism, inspired by pre-war modernism and illustrations from early Showa-era boys’ magazines. Intricate color illustrations, surreal imagery, and manga works evoke the unique atmosphere of Japan’s 1980s subculture scene.
Notable figures from the era’s avant-garde culture also contributed to this project, including Haruomi Hosono of YMO (in conversation), musician Morio Agata, and illustrator Teruhiko Yumura (Terry Johnson). More than just an art book, it also serves as a rare document of the Japanese New Wave movement.
