1.Gasket Installation Direction
The main gasket usually has markings (such as 'TOP' or an arrow). Ensure it is oriented correctly and matches the contour of the cylinder head without twisting or folding.
The spark plug tube seal must be fitted onto the tube body, ensuring it is fully in place without displacement or tilting.
2.Bolt Torque and Sequence
Tighten the bolts strictly according to the manufacturer’s specified torque (approximately 8-10 N·m / 6-7 ft-lbs) and in a crisscross sequence (from the center outward) to avoid warping the valve cover.
Tighten in 2-3 stages: first to 50% of the torque, then the final torque, to prevent stress concentration.
3.Sealant Usage
Apply only a very small amount of manufacturer-recommended sealant (such as Honda black sealant) at the corners or joints of the cylinder head and valve cover (e.g., timing chain cover interfaces), with a thickness not exceeding 0.5 mm.
Do not use excessive sealant to avoid it entering oil passages and causing blockages.
4.Avoid Reuse
Gaskets are single-use items and must be replaced with a new set after removal. Do not reuse old gaskets.
