This is a reproduction windshield for the Pinto funny car. The car looks way better with it than without it. If you look at the listing for the COX Vega windshield you will see it almost identical as this one as the same stuff holds true for both cars.
The first picture is just for reference, the car is obviously not included. This listing is for the windshield only. The second picture shows the difference between the original (cracked) windshield on the bottom with the tabs and the reproduction on the top. The third just show the protective cover that comes on it. It peels off easy.
Lets do the good and the not so good.
Not so good: Everyone of these windshields are identical, yet a few guys and myself have attempted to put it in cars and some fit and others will need a bit of sizing. The plastics guy that helped me develop this item told me that is completely normal as plastic shrinks with age. (never knew that) Apparently it matters if the car was sitting in the back of a closet or on a shelf in the sun, or in a 120 degree attic in the summer.
This presented a problem. We could not make the piece for a car that has shrunk to some unknown dimension because it would not fit the "un-shrunk" car. So we made it to the original dimensions.
Here's what you have to do. If it fits, fine. If it doesn't, you will have to do a bit of sanding or grinding. The Pinto windscreen has square edges so it's pretty easy to fit.
Both dies used to punch out these windshields broke after we made about 50 Vega's and 75 Pinto's so this listing indestructibleis going to be and one and done for us.
The good: This is not made out of plexiglass like the original. It's polycarbonate. This stuff is almost indestructible. If you really try you can scratch it, but it's not nearly as sensitive as plexiglass. If your car has a windshield that's scratched or yellowed this is a huge improvement.
IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO SIZE THIS TO YOUR CAR PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT. Either work on it to make it fit your car as needed, have somebody that's handy work on it, or pass on it. It needs to be fit to your car. The Pinto needs the windshield to be glued into place. Loctite says any super glue will work if you prep the surface right. I like their plastic kit with the activator pen. Remember super glue is next to useless after 2 years or so make sure its fresh.
