    6 Common Signs of Driveshaft Problems

     

    • Vibrations.An early sign of driveshaft problems is intense vibrations that come from underneath the vehicle.
    • Squeaking Sounds.Squeaking sounds are caused by a couple of driveshaft problems.
    • Clunking Sounds.This will sound like a loud clunk or knock coming from beneath the vehicle.
    • Other Strange Noises.You may also hear scraping or rattling sounds.
    • Movement In the U-Joint.Worn or broken U-joints are a common driveshaft problem.
    • Shuddering While Accelerating.Loose U-joints or bad center bearings within the driveshaft can cause a worrisome shuddering as you accelerate.

     

    Product Installation Procedure

     

    1. Remove the split pin from the hub nut, then crack the hub nut off so that it’s loose, but leave it attached.
    2. Jack the car up, remove the front wheels and take off the brake calipers. Remove the hub nut completely. 
    3. Undo the nut onto the lower ball joint and break the hub assembly and the lower arm apart. Pull the hub away from the drive shaft, freeing the outermost end.
    4. Remove the drive shaft end from the gearbox.
    5. Fit the new drive shaft. Make sure you tighten the hub nuts up to the manufacturer's specified torque.
