A failing fan clutch typically causes engine overheating or a loud, constantly spinning fan. Check for excessive fan blade play or resistance by spinning the fan manually when cool. Inspect the fan clutch for oil leaks or wobbling. If the fan spins freely without resistance or locks up, replacement is needed.
