Megara, located on the Isthmus of Corinth, was a prominent ancient Greek city-state that, during 307-243 BC, was largely under Macedonian influence and occupied a vital military position. In 243 BC, the city expelled its Macedonian garrison, joined the Achaean League, and later briefly joined the Boeotian League in 223 BC.
