    What is a Fan Clutch?

    The clutch fan is equipped with a fan clutch between the pulley and the fan blade hub, and the working state of the fan is adjusted through the separation and engagement of the clutch. This not only ensures the normal operating temperature of the engine, but also reduces the power loss of the engine and reduces fuel consumption. 

     

    How to Detect a Faulty Fan Clutch?

    1. Damage to the bimetallic temperature sensor: When the bimetallic temperature sensor is damaged, the fan clutch cannot be separated and combined with changes in the air temperature behind the radiator, but is always in a separated state, causing the engine temperature to be too high.

    2. Silicone oil leakage: Silicone oil is the main transmission medium of the fan clutch. When the leakage of silicone oil reaches a certain level, the power transmission will fail.

    3. The transmission pin of the silicone oil fan is broken: the oil outlet valve leaves the oil outlet and is normally opened under the action of the spring force, so that the silicone oil in the oil storage chamber enters the working chamber, and the fan clutch is in a state of constant engagement, causing the engine The temperature rises too slowly. 

     

    How to Replace a Fan Clutch?

    1. Remove the clutch cover and flywheel connecting bolts from the flywheel, and the clutch cover and pressure plate assembly can be removed from the flywheel. Note: If there is a balance weight on the bolt, mark the clutch cover and the balance weight so that they can be reinstalled in situ, so as not to damage the dynamic balance of the crankshaft assembly.

    2. Put the clutch cover and pressure plate assembly on the press, press the lower part of the pressure plate with a circular pad with a thickness greater than 9.2mm (new structure 9.7mm) and an outer diameter less than Φ325mm, and press it with a pressure of more than 1.5t.

    3. Disassemble the lock nut and adjustment nut of the separation lever adjustment screw.

    4. Disassemble the bolts on the bolt seat of the driving plate (the flange should be disassembled when disassembling).

    5. Slowly loosen the pressing force of the press. After all the pressure is relaxed, the clutch pressure plate and flange assembly are all disassembled.

    6. Wipe and clean the flange with detergent and water, and check all parts.
