This LP documents the historic 1968 NBC-TV “Comeback Special” that reignited Elvis Presley’s career after nearly a decade devoted to Hollywood soundtracks. Combining intimate live performances and re-recorded studio segments — including “Trouble,” “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and the legendary “If I Can Dream” — the album captures Elvis at his creative and emotional peak. The mono edition (LPM-4088) was issued in late November 1968 and pressed only through early 1969, marking one of the very last U.S. mono LPs before RCA permanently shifted to stereo. The bold front design — Elvis in a white suit framed by red-bulb “ELVIS” marquee lights — became one of the most iconic covers in his entire catalog. |
