A lot of 8 colour-printed and hand painted stipple engravings. Two pairs and a series of four:

The first matching pair of antique British engraved prints after original works by William Redmore Bigg (1755–1828), one of the most respected English genre painters of the late 18th century.

Titles included:

  1. “Black Monday, or the Departure for School”

  2. “Dulce Domum, or the Return from School”

These sentimental and highly collectible scenes depict children leaving for school and joyfully returning home, capturing the emotional contrasts of family life in Georgian England.

Both engravings were published March 1, 1790, engraved by John Jones, and are presented in matching blue matting, making them ideal for display as a pair.

The second matching pair of antique British engraved prints after original works by Francis Wheatley (1747-1801), one of the most respected English genre painters of the late 18th century.

Titles included:

  1. “The Fisherman Going Out”

  2. "The Fisherman's return”

Together, the two prints form a popular narrative set illustrating departure and return, labor and home life.

The scene shows the fisherman greeted by his wife and children at the water’s edge, with a boat moored nearby and a rustic cottage in the background—an excellent example of late-18th-century British genre art celebrating family and rural life.

The engravings were made by Joseph Barney (1755-1832) and published in 1793.

The last set it made by four engravings:
