SHIP-IN REPAIR PROCESS AND FAQ

Q: How does your ship-in repair process work?

A: Just follow the steps outlined below!

1. You purchase a listing for your part number that exactly matches one of the part numbers in the listing variation drop-down menu.
2. Once we receive your order and payment, we will send you a pre-paid UPS shipping label via eBay message, as well as a repair form to include with your shipment, and instructions for safe shipment. In addition, we will mail you a flat envelope, or "kit," which contains printed versions of all these attachments. If you have access to a printer and prefer to print these documents and ship immediately, you do not have to wait to receive your Ship-In Repair kit in the mail. It should just be noted that UPS will only accept one use of your shipping label.
3. After receiving your documents and/or the Ship-In Repair kit from us, you will place your defective unit and return paperwork in your box (packaging it carefully and safely so it arrives to us without damage), place the provided labels on the outside of the box, and drop off at your local UPS drop-off location.
4. Once we receive your unit from UPS, our technical team will diagnose your unit.  If your unit does not have severe liquid or physical damage they will repair it and send it back to you with a one-year warranty.  IF your unit DOES have liquid or physical damage, we will contact you directly to provide service options.  Not all liquid or physical damage units can be repaired.

Q: What does the six-month warranty cover?

A: Your ship-in repair warranty will cover the repair of any defects in manufacturing or workmanship for the period of six months.  This warranty does not cover physical or liquid damage that occurs after our repair, or removal and re-installation of the unit.

Q: The picture looks like my unit, but my part number isn't listed. Can I still buy the listing and send my unit for repair?

A: Many units will look exactly alike, but may NOT be the same functionally or repair/internal parts-wise.  Please contact us directly before purchasing if your part number is not on the part number dropdown or interchange list!

Q: Will this part require programming?

A: Certain replacement radios and associated modules require dealer programming to your VIN for proper functionality. We do our best to provide this information when available but do not have a complete list of which modules and vehicles will require programming. If you are unsure we recommend contacting your local new car dealership.

Q: Will my unit be unlocked?

A: Many factory radios utilize an anti-theft feature by storing the VIN in the radio. All radios sold or repaired by United Radio are shipped in an unlocked state where applicable. Radios that utilize a VIN lock will lock to the first vehicle you install them in and cannot be moved to another vehicle after the unit is paired to the VIN. 

Q: Does this radio need an unlock code?

A: Many factory radios utilize an anti-theft feature by requiring a 4-6 digit lock code that must be entered whenever the radio is removed from the vehicle. All radios sold or repaired by United Radio will ship with this lock code where applicable. If your radio requires a lock code but you did not receive one please contact us with the part number and serial number off your radio and we will provide the code for you. Please note we cannot provide lock codes for radios not sold or repaired by United Radio. 

Q: This listing is for a "Ship-in Repair", what does your repair process entail?

A: United Radio is an electronics manufacturer that has been in business since 1923. Our Consumer Electronics Department specializes in remanufacturing home audio products to a full working condition. This process typically entails replacement of any worn functional items, updates to any components that were changed after production, software/firmware updates, and a full QC function test. OEM/exact replacement parts are always used when available. Ship-in repair MAY NOT cover replacement of cosmetic parts that are fully functional due to availability of cosmetic parts.
