cr245.   Scottish Mauchline  red & black Tartanware Photograph Album, C.1870.  This may be the plaid of Rob Roy.   Wooden covers, 6" x 4 1/2" x 2", with gilt blocked, brown leather spine. Bun feet on rear panel for scratch protection.  On the front cover is a photo-type scene in sepia tone of lake and island. All edges gilded.  

Fancy working brass gilded clasp and 25 double-sided leaves for photographs on both sides, mostly filled with vintage photos.   Tight, strong, crisp and clean.   
 Near Fine condition. 

This handsome book came from the inventory of an Edinburgh, Scotland bookseller, business established 1910-75.  It is in Near Fine condition ......tight bindings and bright.   Very suitable for gift giving.
