This listing is for a scarce vintage Japanese scalloped porcelain cup and saucer, beautifully hand-painted in vibrant enamels of red, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Decoration includes purple vases with blue, red and yellow exotic flowers and blue fine-line border with red and yellow flowers. The cup measures 2.25 in. (5.715 cm) high; 4.25 in. (10.795 cm) long (including handle) and 3.5 in. (8.89 cm) wide and the saucer measures 7/8 in. (2.51cm) high and 5-5/8 in. (14 cm) wide. The base of each piece is marked in a green square with the Japanese character “Fuku” () meaning good fortune, a mark commonly found on mid-20th century Kutani porcelain.

Unlike the many fuku-marked bowls produced for export, matching cup and saucer sets were made in far smaller quantities, intended for Western-style tea service rather than traditional Japanese use. Surviving pairs in excellent condition are uncommon. A wonderful addition to a Kutani, Japanese export porcelain, or Asian tea set collection.
