• This system is equipped with the same OEM safety and operating restrictions as Ford's factory-installed remote starters: The system will detect any current or stored fault codes, which will prevent the remote starter from activating. If the hood is open, the transmission is not in park, the vehicle's battery voltage is too low, the check engine light is on, or any stored DTC codes (no visual lights on the dash) will prevent the system from activating (you can also consult your vehicle's owner's/operator's manual).
  
  
• Entrance protection and safety: In addition, on most Ford vehicles, depending on how the OEM ECM was configured, it will only allow key takeover to be performed within an allotted amount of time after entering the vehicle. This time span can range from 1 to 4 minutes before the engine will shut down if the key takeover has not been performed (you can also consult your vehicle's owner's/operator's manual).
