I tested it with Maxell CD-R Audio blank cd's.  It is essential you use the Audio type of CD-R's or CD-RW's.
I found it would record the first 4 tracks of the original source CD's I tried.

This may be a known fault, I don't know. Maybe it prefer's Audio CD-RW's, I haven't tried those.
Priced to reflect it being a decent 2 deck player with original remote.
