Vacuum Siphon Coffee Maker
Brews five cups; (H)14.5" x (W)6"

It may look intimidating to use, but if you can handle a French Press or an Aeropress, you can handle this. The Vacuum Siphon Coffee Maker uses a process first invented in the 1800s to put physics to work brewing superior coffee. Other than the considerable style points this gives you when you use it, the coffee siphon allows for a greater degree of control over the time and temperature at which you brew your coffee than other methods. Plus, it’s not just for coffee: You can also use it to create fantastic flavor-infused cocktails, and serve ‘em hot or cold.

The process is easy to master. Fill the bottom beaker with hot water, and place an alcohol burner underneath. Sit the top beaker (with the filter hooked in) on top once the water is boiling and let the water fill it up. Stir your medium-ground coffee into the top beaker, and let steep for however long you want, turning the heat down to low when you do. When it’s done steeping, turn the heat all the way off. The temperature difference creates a vacuum, drawing the brewed coffee back into the bottom beaker, hot and ready to serve.

Break this out at your next get-together, or on a lazy Sunday morning, and let physics be your barista.
