Welcome to The Textile Trunk ~ Thank you for over 25 wonderful years of helping bring these beautiful antique textiles and decorative items to life again!

This exquisite wallpaper panel, titled “La Chasse V2”, is a magnificent example from the legendary Zuber manufactory of Rixheim, France. Measuring approximately 32 x 24 inches, this scenic design is mounted on a light canvas backing and portrays a romantic castle landscape with hunting dogs in pursuit by a serene lakeside, rendered in soft tones of taupe, sage green, cream, and blue. It's durable and strong.

Zuber is world-renowned for its hand-blocked wallpapers, produced using the original 18th- and 19th-century woodblocks that remain in their archives today. Panels like this one were part of their mind-boggling scenic collections, often spanning entire walls or rooms to tell sweeping visual stories of pastoral and noble life. This particular print comes from the “La Chasse” (The Hunt) series, and this version — Version 2 — offers a slightly different composition and palette than the earlier edition.

I recently acquired a large collection of original Zuber scenic wallpapers, many of which are extremely rare to find outside museums or historic interiors. Keep watching as I list this extraordinary collection — each piece represents a true slice of decorative history! To learn more about Zuber please see below ~

This sheet would be stunning framed as unique wall art, displayed in a rustic home decor, chateau chic, or farmhouse setting, or preserved as part of a historic wallcoverings archive.

*Founded in 1797 in Rixheim, Alsace, Zuber & Cie is one of the oldest continuously operating wallpaper manufacturers in the world and remains synonymous with French artistic excellence. The company became famous for its hand-block printed panoramic wallpapers, created using thousands of engraved pearwood blocks—many still in use today. Under the direction of Jean Zuber and later his successors, the firm produced some of the most celebrated scenic wallpapers ever made, including Les Vues d’Amérique du Nord, Eldorado, La Chasse, and Hindoustan. Each design was printed entirely by hand, color by color, using natural pigments and meticulous layering techniques. Zuber’s wallpapers adorned the walls of palaces, châteaux, and historic homes worldwide, including the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House, where President Kennedy selected Vues d’Amérique as a backdrop. To this day, Zuber represents the pinnacle of historic French wall art and remains a living example of 18th- and 19th-century artistry.
