This is a museum-quality piece of fashion history, one of Tom Ford's most famous designs from his blockbuster reign at YSL. 

It was featured on the runway and ad campaign, in Vogue, and worn on the red carpet by fashion icons like Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Watts, Helena Bonham Carter and many others. 

This collection was designed with the idea of the "adult erotic," a femme fatale who cocooned herself in silks and velvets and whose clothing could all fall off at a single pull - hence the emphasis on exposed corsetry hooks, sheer silk voile, oversized velvet bows and luxe fabric you see here. 

The structure comes primarily from the corset-y top which grips onto your body and the tulle gives it some stretch. 

The closure is by metal hook-and-eye and the tulle lets your skin peekaboo through. 

The neckline is straight and fringed in eyelash fringe and the hook-and-eye is trimmed in a minimalist ruffle. 

The sleeves are attached to the shoulder strap, and all of it finishes in a sensual oversized bow. The sleeves are buttoned at the cuff and the forearms are an open balloon sleeve.

The top is guaranteed authentic. 

It was purchased by a private client and went right into her cold-storage collection - it was never worn and all original tags and store tags are still attached. 

As seen on the last photo, there is a 1" section under the right cleavage where the ribbon edge has a micro fray at the seam. It's a hand-sewn item so variations are expected and it's not noticeable when worn (see mannequin pics).
