| A black and white photograph of The Beatles autographed by the group on the reverse in blue ballpoint pen. John Lennon has written the inscription ‘love to Margaret from’ above his name and added ‘xxxx’ under it. Paul McCartney has added ‘To Margaret love’ above his name and ‘xxxx’ below it, George Harrison has written the inscription ‘To Margaret love from’ before his name and ‘xxxx’ under it, Ringo Starr has added ‘xxx’ below his signature. The autographs were obtained at The Cavern Club, Liverpool, England in late 1962/early 1963. The image of The Beatles on the front of the photograph was taken during a photo session late September 1962 just one month after Ringo had joined the group. It pictures The Beatles onboard the boat the Salvor at Albert Dock, Liverpool, England, it was captured by Les Chadwick who worked for Peter Kaye photography in the city. Provenance: accompanied by a letter from the original recipient that reads ‘I bought this photograph in NEMS music store, Whitechapel, Liverpool. The Beatles signed it in the band room of the Cavern, most likely at a lunchtime session before they went on stage. The photograph was taken in September 1962 by Les Chadwick for Peter Kaye Photography.’ The photograph measures 17cm x 13.5cm (6.7 inches x 5.3 inches). It has been trimmed on the edges. The condition is very good minus. |
