Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens*
A standout feature is the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens, offering an equivalent 35mm focal length of 24–70mm—covering wide-angle to mid-telephoto, making it versatile for diverse scenarios. The 24mm wide-angle delivers striking visual impact, ideal for landscapes and architecture, capturing expansive scenes with grandeur. The 70mm telephoto is perfect for portrait close-ups or distant subjects, creating professional shallow depth of field to isolate subjects from backgrounds.
With a maximum aperture of F1.8–2.8, the wide-angle F1.8 aperture ensures ample light intake in low light, keeping images bright while producing soft, natural background blur. For close-up still lifes, this separation enhances depth and artistic appeal. The lens structure—9 groups, 10 elements, including 9 aspherical lenses (2 advanced aspherical)—minimizes chromatic and spherical aberrations, maintaining sharpness from edge to center across the zoom range. Additionally, Zeiss T* multi-coating reduces reflections, suppressing flare and ghosting in backlit conditions for high-contrast, true-to-life colors.
Optical Stabilization & Built-in ND Filter
To enhance handheld stability, the RX100M3 includes Optical SteadyShot stabilization. It compensates for hand shake via internal lens elements, reducing blur when using slow shutter speeds in low light or shooting at telephoto lengths—boosting shot success rates.
For bright outdoor conditions, a 3-stop adjustable ND (neutral density) filter is integrated. It reduces light intake, allowing the use of large apertures for shallow depth of field or slow shutter speeds to capture motion (e.g., flowing water or light trails) without overexposure, enabling creative control in harsh lighting.
