The NATAPP NearStore VTL300 is a virtual tape library (VTL) and offers a favorable introduction to the mid-range segment of virtual band libraries. The system works with hardware compression and is based on a self -optimizing system architecture.
Nearstore VTL is a hard disk-based storage system that appears compared to a backup application such as a tape library, but offers the outstanding reliability and performance of hard disk technologies. The VTL backup solution complements conventional band drives and libraries by seamlessly integrating hard disk storage into the backup process. Existing tape libraries can continue to be used to create physical tapes for outsourced archiving.
The NATAPP NearStore VTL can be used for backups almost any storage environment based on open systems.
For example, the platform for securing primary memory systems from NetApp, EMC, hitachi , HP and IBM using leading backup software from Bakbone, CA, Commvault, HP, Legato, Symantec, Syncsort and Tivoli.
