A lot of thirteen Yemeni kabdi agate (aqeeq) stones, each cut as an oval cabochon and hand carved with lines of Arabic script across its domed face.

The stones run from a clear, glowing red through deep wine to a darker red-brown, and light passing through them brings out soft banding in several pieces. Every stone carries its own carved inscription, the cut lines left pale against the polished surface so the script reads clearly. One stone is carved differently from the rest, with a leaf-like frond beside the script and an incised border following its edge. The backs are flat, and one still has a small paper label on it.

Loose and ready to be set, the stones suit ring or pendant settings, or can be kept together as a collection of Islamic Middle Eastern carved stones.
