This stunning antique priest's cope vestment is a magnificent example of liturgical textiles from the 17th-18th century. The vestment is crafted from rich red silk brocade, featuring an intricate floral pattern. A wide border of deep red velvet, embroidered with silk and metallic threads, frames the main body of the cope. 

The back of the vestment features a highly decorative, shield-shaped panel, known as the cope hood, which is purely ornamental. This panel is meticulously embroidered with a detailed floral motif and what appears to be a monogram, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship. The entire piece is finished with a gilded trim along the edges. 

This cope, or pluvial, is a substantial textile, measuring  278 cm in length and 135 cm in width. It would have been worn by a priest during solemn religious ceremonies. The quality of the materials and the detailed embroidery suggest it was a piece of significant value and artistry, similar to those found in museum collections.
