Representing the pinnacle of sound, playability, and looks, Gibson Customs combine traditional processes with cutting-edge technology and exceptional craftsmanship to create products that celebrate history and innovate for a new era.

Discontinued in 1960, the single-cut Les Paul rekindled its popularity in the late 1960s music scene, and in the summer of 1968, the Custom and Standard models were re-released.

While the looks of this reissued Custom were inspired by the 1950s Custom, the elements that shaped its sound had changed from the 1950s Custom. It features specifications inherited from the Sunburst Les Paul, such as a maple top, mahogany back body structure (single-piece mahogany in the 1950s), and dual humbucking pickups, which ultimately matched the trends of the rock movement at the time and defined the image of Custom ever since. Even today, more than 50 years later, it remains a coveted model for rock guitarists.
