The destruction of the Exeter Probate Registry in 1942 and consequent loss of wills proved in the dioceses of Bath and Wells and Exeter have made private abstracts of wills important. The collection transcribed here is from the 27 notebooks of Alfred James Monday (d.1920), a member of the Somerset Archaeological Society. Mostly from the southwest of the county and ranging in date from 1530 to 1800, the wills offer much genealogical information and detail of personal possessions. No jacket.
