The Mysteries of the Ocean 

The volume split into four sections; "Histoire de l'Océan" (discusses the origin of the oceans, great floods, and their historical context) / "Phénomènes de l'Océan" (covers tides, gulf stream, storms, currents, and other marine phenomena) / "Le Monde Marin" (explores marine fossils, life under the sea including fish (sharks, whales), seals, seabirds, and more) / "L'homme et l'Océan" (focuses on fishing, whaling, navigation, and human interactions with the sea).

**Alfred Mame. Arthur Mangin. 8vo, measuring; 24.5cm x 16.5cm. Bound in the original black pebbled cloth with Morocco backed spine. title in gilt. All page edges in gilt. French text. illustrated throughout including full page. 448pp.** 

 

Condition: See photos as part of condition report: In the original pebbled cloth, backed by Morocco in gilt. Holding firmly, rubbing to the extremities, very short split to the upper board lower joint. Text block firm, staining to the lower margins/gutters, foxing throughout.
