This Heisey stopper is approx 4.5 in tall.  The bottom of the stopper is approx 1.5 in across, with a circumference of approx 5.5 in.  The stopper weighs approx 13 oz. It has no cracks or chips.  It does show signs of normal usage with minor scratches or abrasions.  I did notice an internal blemish (is smooth to the touch) that was probably inherent of the production process (see photos).  This stopper would be used with a glass cocktail shaker or decanter.

The Heisey Glass Company was founded by Augustus H. Heisey in 1895 in Newark, Ohio. Heisey, originally from Hanover, Germany, emigrated to the United States in 1843. He began his career in the glass industry as a clerk at the King Glass Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and later became a salesman for the Ripley Glass Company.

In 1895, Heisey decided to start his own glass company in Newark, Ohio, due to the availability of natural gas and low-cost labor. The factory opened in 1896 and quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality glassware, including both pressed and blown glass items. Heisey glass is known for its clarity, brilliance, and intricate designs.

The company produced a wide variety of glassware, including tableware, decorative items, and even glass automobile headlights. Heisey glass became highly collectible, with popular patterns such as Crystolite, Greek Key, Empress, and Plantation.

The Heisey Glass Company operated until 1957, when it closed its doors.
