yContentzThe Thunderbird, a two-seater specialty car from Ford, debuted in 1955. From the second generation 1958 model, it became a four-seater, and from the fourth and fifth generations (1967-1971), four-door models were also available.
The Hot Wheels model is based on the ninth generation, which transitioned from the traditional boxy style to a rounded aerodynamic form.
This model is not in its normal specification; it has been modified to compete in the Pro Stock class, which races on a 0-1/4 mile (approximately 400m) track using naturally aspirated engines without relying on forced induction (turbochargers or superchargers). Between 1985 and 1987, driver Bob Glidden won the national championship with this car. It features an air scoop designed to increase airflow to the engine.
The coloring is styled in the Pro Street style, modified to reflect the Pro Stock trend that was popular in the 1980s.
