Harald V
FEATURING
front: 3 crowned monograms of Harald V form cross
back: stylized bird on vine
The bird on a branch is based on the carvings from the portal of Hylestad Stave Church. The church was built in Setesdal in the late 12th/early 13th century, and demolished in the 17th century. The portal carvings are now in a museum in Oslo.
These carvings tell the legend of a dragon slayer, but all we got on the coin was a tame bird.
