1. AWARDS
Awards of the medallion shall be made with the approval of the Premier abi shall be effective from the date of publication of the appropriate notice in the New South Wales
Government Gazette.
2. ELIGIBILITY FOR AN AWARD i.
Permanent employces of NSW Government Department and NSW Declared
Authorities.
As listed in Schedules 1 and 3 of the Public Sector Management Act 1988, may be awarded the medallion. Service with an agency which was at sometime in the deleted Schedule 2 of the Public Sector Management Act also qualifies
ii.
Persons whose positions were listed in schedule 4 of the former Public Service Act, 1979, are eligible for an award of the medallion
3. ELIGIBLE SERVICE
Eligible employees who have completed 40 years meritorious New South Wales service may be awarded the medallion
Service which is acceptable for the purpose of extended leave will be classed as eligible service for an award
iii.
Service which ceased on or after 1 January 1984, will be classed as eligible service for an award
iv.
Employees who receive or have received an Australian Award or Imperial, which includes length or service as a condition of eligibility for that award may not count the period of service so recognised as service for the New South Wales Medallion.
4. NOMINATIONS
i.
Departmental Heads, Persons exercising functions of Departmental Head and in relation to Departmental Heads and persons exercising function of Departmental Head, may submit to the Director General, Premier's Department, nominations of eligible persons for consideration by the Premier, for an award of the medallion.
The person submitting the nomination will be required to make a recommendation regarding the merit of the service. The nomination is to be accompanied by a statement of service.
