Features: Image Sensor and Pixels: A 1/1.8-type CCD image sensor with approximately 8.3 million total pixels and 8.13 million effective pixels produces images with rich gradation and a wide dynamic range, even at a high sensitivity setting of ISO 1600.
Image Processing Engine: Equipped with a GR Engine, sophisticated image processing algorithms developed by analyzing large amounts of sampled image data produce natural results in almost all shooting situations. It clearly reproduces areas such as diagonal lines that are difficult for CCD sensors to process, and intelligently analyzes shooting conditions and user intent to produce lifelike results.
Exterior Design: The body is constructed of die-cast magnesium, providing durability and protecting the delicate internal circuitry from electromagnetic interference, while maintaining a premium appearance and quality. The camera measures 107.0 x 58.0 x 25.0 mm (W x H x D) and weighs approximately 168 grams (excluding battery, SD card, and strap), making it lightweight and easy to hold.
Operation and Functions: A simple one-touch menu system makes it easy to find frequently used functions. Two auto exposure (AE) modes—Program Shift and Aperture Priority—are available, along with manual exposure mode. Users can also choose between center-weighted metering, spot metering, or precise 256-point multi-point metering. Shutter speeds range from 180-1/2000 second, and the camera supports Selfie and continuous shooting.
Storage and Connectivity: Storage media includes SD memory cards, SDHC cards, and multimedia cards. The camera has approximately 54MB of internal memory and records in JPEG (EXIF version 2.21) and RAW (DNG) formats. The data interface is a USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed USB) micro-USB cable for computer data transfer and also supports AV output.
Monitor: Equipped with a 2.5-type 210,000-dot LCD monitor that covers 100% of the field of view, it allows users to check the focus of photos after shooting. It also displays various information such as a histogram for adjusting exposure and a grid for precise vertical/horizontal alignment or rule of thirds composition.
