I have for sale one of the 1872 Presidential campaign tokens for Horace Greeley. Greeley a democrat ran against Ulysses S. Grant, a republican, Greeley lost. Greeley was a newspaper editor & publisher, the founder & editor of the New York Tribune. He also served briefly as a United States congressman from New York. The token looks to be bronze, it is 15/16 inch in diameter and in a mid grade circulated condition, but holed, see photos. On the token obverse in the center it shows the raised bust of Greeley and around the rim it reads THE SAGE OF CHAPPAQUA - H. GREELEY. The reverse in the center shows an eagle perched on a branch with arrows behind & the year 1872 below. At the rim it reads GREELEY - BROWN & AMNESTY.
