The 500 won coin (Hangul: 오백원 동전; Hangul: 오백원 동전; Hancha: 五百圓 銅錢; RR: Obaegwon dongjeon; MR: Obaegwŏn tongjŏn) is one of the Republic of Korea won coins issued by the Bank of Korea, the central bank of the Republic of Korea.
The front depicts a migratory red-crowned crane, whose habitat is Korea, and the reverse is inscribed in Hangul with 500 won (오백원), the year of minting, and the name of the issuer, the Bank of Korea (한국은행).
The crane is depicted as if it is flying, which is meant to represent “the second economic leap” and “Korea's leap forward in the international community.
